Royal Mail Delivery Update

I’ve been running my business since 2013, and when I first started, a First Class letter cost 65p. Today, that same service costs £1.70.

Like everything else, postage prices have risen significantly, and as a small business it’s becoming increasingly difficult to absorb these costs, especially when I sell low-priced items. Offering only First Class postage would mean the postage costs more than half the price of a single card, which is why I also offer Second Class.

However, in July 2025 Royal Mail changed their Second Class delivery service. Second Class post is now only delivered every other day, meaning delivery can take up to 14 working days. Yes, 14 working days.

I’ve decided to continue offering Second Class postage, as it still feels like the fairest option with First Class prices being so high. There is a clear disclaimer on the Second Class option, but I do worry that delays may occur and cause frustration.

Below are some images shared by Royal Mail, along with a link to their website explaining these changes in more detail.

I’m going to monitor how this works and may revert to offering First Class only if delays become too frequent.

Please be aware that if you choose Second Class postage at checkout, delivery will take longer than usual. There is no tracking available, so patience will be needed on all sides.

Thank you so much for your understanding, I really appreciate it.
